Although quartz is very scratch resistant, we do recommend using a cutting board on your quartz countertop. A hot pot or pan can potentially lead to discoloration; we suggest using a trivet to maintain the quality of your countertop

Specialty tools are needed to remove chips or scratches. A stone care professional can repair your quartz countertop. Prices will vary.

Quartz countertops are easy to care for, and because the surface is non-porous, they are hard to stain. Use mild dish soap and water for everyday cleaning and stay away from harsh, abrasive cleansers, and cleansers that contain bleach. You can gently scrape hardened material off with a plastic putty knife.

Avoid exposing Quartz Surfaces to chemicals with high alkaline or PH level, such as oven grill cleaners, floor strippers, toilet bowl cleaners, oil soaps, tarnish removers, furniture cleaners and drain products.

Quartz countertops are an investment that should be made by homeowners who are remodelling a kitchen and looking for long-lasting materials to use. That being said, thanks to improve upon technology – Quartz is now very affordable.

Granite is an igneous rock having a visible crystal structure. Granite is made up primarily of quartz and feldspar (which are harder than steel). These give granite the lighter colors, like whites and pinks.

Granite is formed under the earth’s surface by the crystallization of once molten material under conditions of extreme heat and pressure over eons. Solid rock melts under very high temperatures, and water acts as a catalyst. During the slow cooling process, the larger crystals grow big enough to be visible.

No, granite cannot crack with normal use. Factors like transportation, installation and settling or weathering can cause crack. Standing on granite or dropping anything on surface can damage granite. The damages including cracks can be repaired by some ground granite and an adhesive.

It occurs only in severe cases of abuse. If a chip occurs, save the pieces and have a professional fix it by mixing the ground granite with epoxy.

TThe crystal structure of granite will always have small pits; those gaps by applying sealant can be lessening any appearance of pits.

Etches are circles or spots caused due to acidic liquid coming in contact with the surface. However, granite is highly resistant to etching due to its composition. A liquid which may affect the granite and cause etching includes glass cleaner, alcohol, juice, coffee. Granite will dull with age and from contact with acids, abrasives, or coarse cleaning pads. In this case, refinish. Test the porosity of your granite by placing something wet on it for five minutes and then wiping it up. If the granite changes colour in that area, then apply sealant.

Water left on counter for some time may spot but it disappears when it is completely dry. Staining substances includes liquids like hand soaps, coffee, red wine and oil. It needs to wipe as quickly as possible for less or no strains. For left over strains, make poultice of a fine absorptive non-acid cleaning powder.

Not all granite needs to be sealed, but generally it benefits from a sealing product. Typically, a resin treatment is applied to the granite at time of manufacture. We recommend that you apply a stone sealer after the granite is installed, and then periodically apply sealant after that. Sealing is important for preserving the finish, and will not alter the appearance of the granite. The absorbency of the granite — and its exposure to water or weathering — will determine how often sealing is needed. We recommend sealing granite at least every few years, and some areas might need it more frequently. The less you reseal, the more the granite will show an aged look, which some people prefer.
